A Smarter Path to a Recognised High-School Credential
What Is the GED?
The GED test is a series of four subject tests a person can take to demonstrate their high school academic knowledge. The GED® is a SAQA recognized High School Foreign Grade 12 Equivalent, NQF Level 4 (like a SA NSC Matric without Exemption) in South Africa.
The GED® test was developed for this purpose, similar to an adult matric. It has subsequently been written by more than 17 million students in the USA and around the world, including South Africa.
You can study further with the GED®!
Students with a GED® credential can study higher certificate and diploma courses. GED® graduates are accepted at many ONLINE universities, as well as colleges and other tertiary institutions in South Africa. In the USA, 97% of universities accept students with a GED and internationally, the GED plus SAT is widely accepted for admission to degree courses.
For degree courses in South Africa, GED® graduates must meet the requirements for exemption from USA, usually by taking further steps after the GED®, unless they qualify for mature age exemption (age 23) or other categories of exemption.
