The World's Most Recognised Second-Chance Qualification
The General Educational Development (GED®) test is a globally recognised qualification that shows the world you have the same knowledge and skills as someone who completed Grade 12 / Matric — without having to go back to school!
It was first created back in 1942 to help soldiers returning from World War II get back on their feet, and since then, more than 40 million people around the world have written it. Pretty impressive, right? Employers, colleges, and universities across the USA — and more and more places worldwide — accept it with open arms.
Here in Mzansi, the GED® has been evaluated by SAQA (the South African Qualifications Authority) and sits at NQF Level 4.
That means it carries the same weight as a Matric certificate — making it a brilliant option if traditional schooling didn’t work out for you, for whatever reason. No judgement here!
The test covers four subjects:
- (Maths, don’t stress — you’ve got this!)
- Reasoning Through Language Arts (English reading and writing)
- Science
- Social Studies
The best part? You don’t write everything at once. You tackle each subject separately, in your own time, at an authorised testing centre near you. It’s all about going at your own pace — because everyone’s journey looks different, and that’s okay.
